Stag Hill Outfitters
Stag Hill Outfitters; Newfoundland's home of trophy hunts

We have been in the outfitting business since 1979. With the help of an experienced guiding staff, every effort will be made to make your trip a successful and enjoyable one.

The campsite consists of two cabins, the main cabin which can accommodate four hunters per week, has a washroom , two double occupancy bedrooms, and a kitchen where meals are prepared and served by a full time cook. It is equipped with electric generator and mobile phone. The second cabin is the living quarters for guides and the cook.

Boats and motors are used to travel to different areas around the lake but the main means of travel while hunting is walking. When hunting it is important to locate a high view point at which to sit and glass the area, spot and stalk the animals. During the rut animals can be called into shooting range. The average shooting distance is about two hundred yards. The most common rifles used are the 30-06, 270, 7mm, and 300 magnum.

We have Moose, Caribou, and Black Bear Hunts. With the main focus on the Moose and Caribou. Black Bear tags are available with either of the hunts.

We operate one hunting camp, which gives us the opportunity to provide full attention to all of our clients. We have an extremely high success rate which is from a combination of many years of experience in the outfitting business and the hard work and dedication of the our licensed guides. They are among the best in the business. Our success rate speaks for itself. About 90% - 95% each year for Moose, and about 98% - 100% each year for Caribou. Hunting has never been better.

We have a great camp in a prime location. Accommodations are for four hunters per week , but smaller parties are welcome. We have four guides and one cook in on each hunt.

This is a fly in operation. Our camp is approximately 15 minutes via floatplane from Portland Creek. Just a short drive from our home base in Daniel's Harbour. For those of you who are interested in hunting just Caribou. There are discount packages available from late October to mid November because there is no flying necessary for this hunt.

There are also fishing packages available for Atlantic salmon and trout during July and August. This is also local. No flying necessary.
