HUNTING
We recommend that all hunters bring high powered rifles equipped
with scopes, that have see-through under open sights. Rifles
should be sighted for 150 to 200 yards.
Each
hunter should bring warm sleeping bags, warm clothing, rubber
footwear, binoculars, rain gear and of course a camera for
those spectacular pictures of your trip. Because of fly-in
camp, you should try to keep your gear as light as possible
- approximately 60lbs or less.
ADDITIONAL
COST:
Liquor
and tips at guest discretion. Hotel accommodations, if necessary.
Also, extra fee for cutting, packaging and chilling or freezing
of meat. To fly meat home cost $50.00 for each 50lb box.
Cheques
for licenses fee and reservations should be made payable to
Aster Caines (Outfitting). Personal cheques are accepted for
license fees and deposit only, but not for final settlement
of account balance. Final payment is due on arrival for the
trip.
CASE
OF CANCELLATION:
Once licenses have been issued by the Dept. of Tourism,
there will be no refund on license fees, but license and deposit
may be transferred to another person.
Non-resident
hunters should provide proof of passing hunters safety test
or of having a big game license in previous years. Photocopies
of such proof is acceptable. We will provide special applications
which must be filled out by hunters.
Sometimes
choosing an outfitter can be very difficult. Some outfitters
tend to over hunt their area, this makes it very difficult
to find game. If you decide to come with us, I'm sure that
you will have a successful and memorable hunting or fishing
trip. Hunters should book early to avoid disappointment, because
licences are limited.
FISHING
Newfoundland temperatures
may change quickly at times. You should bring some warm clothing
and some light clothing as well. Also, bring rain gear, insect
repellent, sun glasses, hip boots, and chest waders for salmon
fishing.
Some
flies to bring for salmon fishing are: Rusty Rat, Blue Charm,
Thunder & Lighting, Dusty Miller, Silver Tip, Silver Grey,
Green Butt, Black Dose and Green Highlander. White Wulff,
Royal Coachman, Grey Wulff, Rat Faced McDougall and Orange
and brown bugs are the best dry flies.
For
trout fishing, Royal Coachman, Coachman, Wolly Worms, Blue
Dun, Orange and Brown bugs are the best patterns. Local tied
flies can be purchased at camp.
