Hunting seasons

Big game hunting season in Newfoundland and Labrador opens in August and closes again in December, Hunting in August is restricted to bow hunting only- Rifle season opens two weeks after the bow hunting season. The norm for bow hunting season opening is the last Saturday of August leaving the rifle season opening the second Saturday of September. Closing dates for all big game hunts in Newfoundland and Labrador is December. However Labrador has a winter caribou hunt which takes place in January and runs until march.
