Fishing season for Atlantic
salmon in Newfoundland opens in June and runs through to August.
The new inland sportfishing policy of the government of Canada
allows anglers to take only two fish from rivers for each
of three consecutive months, for class 2 rivers. For rivers
classified by the dept of fisheries and oceans as class 1,
anglers can take 4 fish.
The season for trout fishing
corresponds with that of Atlantic salmon, but there is a
winter season for this species as well. Ice fishing for
trout opens in February and closes again near the end of
march.
Arctic char season also corresponds
with Atlantic salmon, but both Ouaninche and Northern pike
has a winter season the same as trout.
