Appalachian Outfitters (A division of Ironbound Outfitters Inc. ) operates a low volume, highly personalized service to all of our clients. Hunts are conducted with one guide assigned to each hunter. As your outfitter we are out in the field and have control over each hunt. Our broad background and experience in the outfitting and guiding industry ensures the success of a hunt and satisfaction of our clients as our best means of advertising. Our hunting territory, area number 19 is located in Southern Newfoundland (New Foundland), 100 air miles north of Burgeo and area 39 in Northern Newfoundland. The country is magnificent, far away from civilization, and accessible only by plane or helicopter. The south coast of Newfoundland is a vast primitive wilderness. Appalachian Outfitters is permitted by the Newfoundland Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods. Together we work to make this prime hunting area with its trophy wild game accessible to hunters worldwide.

Appalachian Outfitters is the only permitted big game outfitting company in this 10 square mile area. Using a variety of base and spike camps throughout this hunting area, we are able to offer quality big game hunting for Woodland Caribou, Moose, Black Bear, and Ptarmigan in the months of August, September, October, and November. Spring hunts Woodland Caribou Herd - Newfoundland(for Black Bear) and Winter hunts (for Ptarmigan) are also available. You will also find unbelievable fishing in the many lakes and rivers throughout the hunting areas.

After booking your hunting trip with Appalachian Outfitters you will need to make your flight arrangements to arrive in Deer Lake or Stephenville, Newfoundland at least one day prior to your hunt, with departure from Deer Lake at least a full day after the last day of your hunt. This is to allow for possible weather delays.

Please let us know your flight itinerary so we can make your motel reservations. Then upon your arrival we will meet you at the Airport and take you to your motel or directly to the base camp depending on your time of arrival. At this time we will give you details on your transportation into the hunting area and make arrangements to transport you to the helicopter departure areas located in Peter Strides. On the first day of your trip, a helicopter will take you approximately 100 air miles north of Burgeo. After about a 25 minute flight you'll land at one of our main hunting lodges.
